Frozen Olaf - no sign of letting go

At the recent Cake and Craft show in Napier, I was joined by Stacey Johnson from Design at 409 Stacey made some amazing display cakes for the Kiwicakes stand using a combination of Kiwicakes products and her special cake toppers. For those of you who were unable to attend in person and see these cakes up close, over the next few days I'll be sharing the photos with you here.
Stacey used our lovely snowflake wafer paper for the bottom tier of this cake and topped it with one of her custom topper.

Yay Progel colouring really is my favourite

At the recent Cake and Craft show in Napier, I was joined by Stacey Johnson from Design at 409 Stacey made some amazing display cakes for the Kiwicakes stand using a combination of Kiwicakes products and her special cake toppers. Stacey used progel gel paste colouring from Rainbow Dust for the vibrant colours in her cake. The Yay! cake topper was custom made by Stacey and really sums up how I feel about progel!

Pink Ribbon Breakfast Sweets - from Kiwicakes test kitchen

Support the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation during May of each year by hosting a pink ribbon breakfast. Or again in October when it's breast cancer awareness month. It's not difficult to do, its a good excuse to catch up with friends and family and the money raised goes to a great cause! Here are a few sweet ideas...

The iconic pink ribbon is super simple to create with either a strip of fondant or modelling chocolate twisted once. Cupcakes make a nice parting gift for friends to enjoy later, as they have probably filled up on other savouries and sweets at your brekky.

Kiwicakes have a good range of old fashioned lollies great for snacking on at gatherings. In the pink theme I went with sour strawberries and  Good to dot around the room in snacking bowls.

Store-bought mallowpuff type biscuits were made into boob shape with a dot of white chocolate melts and a pinch of crystal candy pink glitter. These were a great conversation piece!

Plain vanilla cookies are jazzed up with pink fondant or modelling chocolate toppers. Use any cutters you have to cut both the cookie and the topper. Smaller plunger cutters can be used to imprint extra decoration and adhere the pieces with sugar glue. Nice to have with a cuppa.

This photo does not do these scrummy meringues justice. They were a stock standard recipe that I added a couple of teaspoons of 100% strawberry powder and an equal amount of boiling water to before beating. They were punchy and chewy in the center, while crisp on the outer. The natural flavour of these fruit powders is just amazing.

Get inspired, get your friends together and get collecting for this important cause.

50th wedding anniversary cake by Kiwicaker Janette

This stunning golden wedding anniversary cake was created by Kiwicaker Janette Robinson. The party was originally intended to be held inside, so it was created as a hanging cake, with internal lights. However due to it being a glorious sunny winters day, the cake was taken outside along with the guests.

Janette has used a great many techniques including Claire Bowman's gold cake lace and Rainbow Dust gold paints & lustre to create the stunning effects shown here. Well done Janette we adore your birdcage cake.

Mainfreight Truck cake made by Kiwicaker Suzanne

I was wow-ed this afternoon when I received the following photos from Kiwicaker Suzanne Davies, she had used our custom edible image service to create the logos to use on this truck cake for a Mainfreight driver.

I received the loveliest letter From Suzanne and she gracefully gave her permission for me to share with you all.

Hi Vaughan and fellow Kiwi Cakes staff

Thank you so much for the fantastic service and product that I received.
The images are brilliant; your overall service from my initial contact requesting printing of an item that is not generally done to your followup 'phone call Vaughan, adjustments to the prototype, to the next day delivery was absolutely first class.

My brother was totally thrilled with the end  result - (please see attached photos).
As for me - I've gone from not knowing anything about trucks to almost expert status in a few days - now I can't stop looking at trucks where ever I go, aargh!

Thanks again
Suzanne Davies
