It's great to know all of the time spent preparing blog posts is worth it. When something like this happens!. Kiwicakes blog got a mention in Small Bites by Sally Butters in the Christmas issue of NZ House & Garden magazine for our Chocolate transfers tutorial.

Her Magazine bloom awards coverage

I was looking forward to receiving my latest copy of Her magazine, to read all about the coverage of the bloom awards (for which I was a finalist for best use of technology). The magazine gave some wonderful coverage to the 2 day conference, as well as the awards. As a finalist, I received a lovely glossy 1/2 page ad.

However I was floored as I was flicking through to find I'd made the websites to watch column,as I did not know I was going to be featured there. I think the Kiwicakes website looks mighty fine in print.

What a surprise I got today when I opened up my latest Her Magazine and found myself profiled towards the back of the magazine. And I'm in good company for this issue, there's an article on cakes which features cakes from BJ's, Custom cake designs, City Cake Co, Iced & Rosebowl. Over the page is a great article on the lovely ladies from Bite me Cupcakes. There's even a lovely ad for Annah Stretton featuring loads of CUPCAKES! Great to see all things cake getting such good coverage in a magazine devoted to fashion & business.

Kiwicakes latest ad

My dear husband is so clever. He made this latest ad for me, to replace the last ad I had for the NZCDG magazine. Last time I gave him the text and pointed him at a royalty free photo site and asked him to make me an ad. This time I found the photo myself and came up with the phrase "have you heard the news", but he took my idea and made it 10x better than I possibly ever could. There are certainly merits to marrying an artist & art teacher. Mum joked he should quit his job and go work for an ad agency. I think I'll run with this ad for a while, it's the best I've had yet!. We're approaching nearly 2000 different products in stock - so we really are NZ's largest online retailer of cake decorating supplies.

It would have been great to run it in colour, however I think it still looks great in black & white. Please let me know what you think of it.

Sneak preview of Kiwicakes ad

Here's a sneak preview of the new Kiwicakes ad, which will feature in the next NZCDG magazine. My lovely husband Vaughan made it for me. I prepared the text and then left him to it. Thank goodness I didn't have to do it myself, I would never come up with anything that looked this good.
